The Project Management Team Minimize
The Municipal & Financial Services Group (MFSG) along with O’Brien & Gere Engineers has been hired by the City and the County to serve as project manager for the consolidation. Both firms have been actively working with the City and the County since the first of August 2006. MFSG has played a similar role in the past having served as project manager for the development of the Boston Water and Sewer Authority and the Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority.

The Municipal and Financial Services Group (MFSG) is a specialized management consulting practice that was established in 1976 and was for many years part of the management consulting department of national or regional CPA firms or engineering firms.  MFSG focuses on the financial and management needs of public sector infrastructure (especially in environmentally related areas such as water, wastewater, stormwater and solid waste utilities) and in the efficient delivery of public sector services. 

MFSG’s personnel are active and involved in professional and industry associations; the Director of MFSG’s practice recently completed his term as chairman of the national American Water Works Association (AWWA) Finance and Accounting Committee and currently chairs that organization’s GASB 34 Task Force.  MFSG’s personnel are active in AWWA, Maryland Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) and Water Environment Federation (WEF), both locally and nationally.
